Through your Saylor Academy account, you can adjust how you receive most notifications from us (certain account-related emails will be sent regardless).
To navigate to your notifications choices, log in to your account, click on your profile avatar image, and select Preferences.
From your preferences page, choose Notification preferences. (You can also simply log in to your account and visit the notification preferences page.)
The notification preferences page lists sources of notifications and, for each source, three toggle switches to turn on or off notifications by Web, Email, and Mobile.
Web notifications appear via the small bell icon, visible at the top of the page when logged in to your account, and can also be viewed on your notifications page. Email notifications are sent to the email address that you use for your Saylor Academy account. Mobile notifications appear on your mobile device if you have the Saylor Academy or Moodle Mobile app installed (and can further be controlled through your device and app settings).
Many of the notifications sources are not routinely used. If you do not receive too many notifications, you might wish to leave the settings as you find them. If you find you are getting too many notifications, you have the option to turn off everything, which we do not recommend. Rather, we suggest you begin by adjusting settings for common sources of notifications such as discussion forums and some announcements that we send, which can be controlled with the toggles for Forum and Quickmail notifications.
In the settings above, note that the students is subscribed to email notifications only (center toggle switches) for discussion forum updates and announcements. By toggling the switches in the center off and the switches on the left on, the student can choose to receive these notifications only when logged in to the site and never by email.
Note: for discussion forums, you also have the option to adjust your forum preferences to receive email digest posts, rather than a separate email for each forum update, which can be a good compromise between too many emails and no emails at all.
